TUI and Transavia embrace the employees of the future

This year, Transavia and business partner TUI sponsored the 2017 Reiswerk Student Challenge. The accommodation, transfers and excursions were offered by TUI, while Transavia operated the flights. The goal of the Challenge is to introduce students to potential future employers in the travel industry.

Student trip to Marrakesh

Erik-Jan Gelink, Ines Verburgh and Karen Kuhlman accompanied a group of 65 excellent university of applied sciences (graduating) students to Marrakech from 21-26 May.They enjoyed a packed programme with speakers from the travel industry and, above all, lots of assignments for the students. Transavia's representatives gave presentations, served in a jury and addressed the students during group consultations and individual speed dates.

Enhancing the customer experience

The students were challenged to pitch innovative ideas for various touch points in the customer journey in order to enhance the customer experience.
One of these ideas originated from team 8, who wanted to ‘alleviate the wait’ at the gate. This idea has now been adopted by Transavia and TUI for further development.

Apart from the group assignment, the students also had the opportunity to present themselves individually. The three best presentations won them a brief job stint at TUI or Transavia, a unique opportunity for these students to get acquainted with working in the travel industry.

The employees of the future

Third place was awarded to Thierry Lobato, student of Communication, Media and Design (InHolland Rotterdam), while second place went to Saskia van den Heuvel, a student of International Tourism Management (TIO Amsterdam).

The student with the best presentation and absolute winner of the Reiswerk Student Challenge was Sebastiaan van Kemenade, who is enrolled in Management Tourism (NHTV Breda). He has been designated the Reiswerk Talent of 2017 and serves as an ambassador for this group of students. Sebastiaan will also be speaking during the upcoming ANVR conference in Seville.

In a nutshell, it was a fantastic experience and event in which TUI and Transavia worked together intensively with the employees of the future!
