Partner newsletter - week 7

Dear partner,

Sharing passenger details

Transavia is ultimately responsible for providing accurate information to all our passengers, including those booked through you, our partners. Therefore, it is crucial that we refine this process to ensure passengers are better informed and assisted in case of flight changes. It is imperative for both Transavia and our partners to organise this properly.

Because of this, from 2025 we will gradually begin exchanging passenger data during bookings. We kindly ask travel agents to cooperate by sharing the passenger's phone number and email address in the booking.

Currently, we do not always receive this information, which means passengers cannot be informed timely, and in the right way in case of operational disruptions for example. This also applies to informing disruptive passengers.

Sharing this data is essential to inform passengers timely and correctly in case of flight changes, cancellations, or other operational changes. This is also in line with the Transavia Privacy Policy which explains the purposes for which contact data is used.

The use of data enables us to:

- Inform passengers of flight changes within 48 hours before departure

- Improve the travel experience of our joint customers by providing them with timely and important updates. For example, providing digital consumption vouchers for all passengers.

If we do not receive contact details from passengers, among other things, passengers run the risk of not receiving crucial information on time.
This can lead to confusion, complaints and unnecessary pressure on both our customer service and that of your organisation.

By sharing this data with us, together we ensure that all passengers are informed in the same way, quickly and correctly.

We would like to emphasise that we only use passenger data for purposes as described in the Transavia Privacy Policy. Personal data is kept confidential by us and processed in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

In our notification emails about flight changes or cancellations, we advise passengers, who are booked through a travel agent, to contact their travel agent for further handling. This ensures that you as a travel agent remain in control of the booking and customer service.

We value our cooperation and count on your support to provide our joint customers with the best possible travel experience.

If you have any further questions or if we can assist you in any way, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Dutch airports

More and more Dutch people are opting for foreign airports due to lower costs. Expensive parking fees, high flight tax, and steep increases in airport charges are making flying from Schiphol more expensive. The impact of the current aviation policy is becoming increasingly apparent.

In countries like Sweden, the flight tax is halved to emphasise the importance of mobility. In the Netherlands, the flight tax was introduced and increased several times with the ambition to reinvest in making the sector more sustainable. Unfortunately, nothing has come of this from the government and that is not a good thing.

We have regularly expressed our deep concerns about the government's plans and choices in the recent period, as well as the very high 41% cost increase in Schiphol’s fares.

In 2019, Schiphol ranked 10th within the European Union in terms of costs. However, Schiphol has now become the most expensive airport within the EU. This highlights that current aviation policy may soon prevent many Dutch people from enjoying a well-earned holiday in the sun or visit family abroad without financial stress.

We also already warned about what we are now seeing in practice, more Dutch people are flying from foreign airports because they want to continue travelling affordably. This development has negative consequences for the Dutch economy beyond just the aviation sector. It leads to unnecessary transport movements that negatively impact CO2 emissions and contribute to environmental concerns.

This further emphasises the importance of Transavia as a holiday airline. We offer our customers affordable flights, reliable service, and a wide network. We cater to holidays, SME, and family visits. Our expanding network includes new destinations such as Skopje in North Macedonia, Trieste in Italy, and Tirana in Albania.

And the advantages of flying from the Netherlands, whether from Schiphol, Rotterdam or Eindhoven, extends beyond convenience. Dutch airports are close by and are easily accessible by both public transport and car. They are renowned for their high standards of safety, comfort, and facilities.

To ensure the continued attractiveness of Dutch airports, adjustments are needed now. We need to consider a fair European flight tax and substantially lower airport charges. We take our responsibility seriously and are committed to reducing nuisance through fleet renewal.

Let us collaborate to keep flying accessible for everyone.
